Willy Rizzo 'Yin Yang' Revolving Coffee Table, Italy, 1970s

An iconic revolving coffee table designed by Willy Rizzo in the 1970s, showcasing the glamorous blend of sculptural form and functional ingenuity for which the celebrated Italian designer is renowned.

The table is composed of two interlocking yin and yang-shaped elements; one finished in high-gloss black lacquer the other in a green marble effect.

The top section rotates smoothly around the central axis. At its centre sits a recessed polished brass compartment, originally conceived as an ice bucket or drinks cooler, making the table equally suited to entertaining as it is to everyday use.

The striking contrast between the deep black lacquer and the lustrous brass creates a bold visual statement, while the clean geometric forms epitomise the sophisticated aesthetic of 1970s Italian design. Both sculptural and practical, the table functions as a centrepiece even when not in use, with its revolving mechanism adding an engaging interactive element.

Presented in good vintage condition, with a well-preserved lacquered finish displaying light signs of age and a mellow patina to the brass insert, consistent with careful use over time.

A highly sought-after design by Willy Rizzo, this revolving coffee table remains one of the defining pieces of Italian modernism, combining innovative functionality with the unmistakable glamour of the period.
