An elegant Italian burr wood occasional table, dating to the early 20th century, notable for its fluid lines and refined decorative detail.
The circular top sits above a frieze centred with a beautifully figured burr walnut panel which opens to reveal a drawer; its intricate grain pattern providing rich tonal variation and natural ornamentation. The warmth of the burr contrasts subtly with the smoother surrounding timber, creating depth and visual interest without the need for applied decoration.
The base is particularly distinctive: three gracefully curved supports intertwine and taper as they descend, meeting at a shaped triangular undertier raised on small bun feet. The sculptural crossing stretchers lend the piece a sense of movement and lightness, while maintaining structural balance.
Stylistically, the table reflects the influence of Italian Liberty and Art Nouveau design, transitioning toward early Art Deco refinement. The emphasis on flowing lines and organic form is characteristic of Northern Italian craftsmanship from the 1910s–30s.
A decorative and finely proportioned side table, ideal as a lamp table or accent piece, offering both sculptural presence and the timeless appeal of burr walnut.
