Aldo Tura Lacquered Goatskin Sliding Coffee Table with Rounded Corners, Italy, 1970s

Aldo Tura Lacquered Goatskin Sliding Coffee Table with Rounded Corners, Italy, 1970s

A refined coffee table by Aldo Tura, produced in Italy during the 1970s, showcasing the designer's unmistakable combination of luxurious materials, elegant proportions and ingenious functionality. This example is finished in Tura's signature lacquered goatskin parchment, its rich amber and chocolate tones creating a beautifully mottled surface that is unique to each piece.

The clean rectangular form is softened by gently rounded corners, lending the table a subtle organic quality while maintaining the bold geometric aesthetic synonymous with 1970s Italian design. The upper section parts effortlessly to reveal a concealed mirrored compartment beneath, offering a practical solution for storage without interrupting the table's minimalist appearance.

The translucent lacquer enriches the natural texture and variation of the goatskin, producing remarkable depth and warmth that changes with the light. The stepped construction creates the illusion of a floating top, further enhancing the sculptural quality of the design.

Presented in good vintage condition, with a nicely preserved lacquer finish displaying only light signs of age and use, consistent with its period. The sliding mechanism operates smoothly, and the storage compartment remains clean and fully functional.

An elegant and highly collectable example of Aldo Tura's work, this coffee table perfectly captures the glamour, craftsmanship and innovative design that made his furniture some of the most distinctive pieces of Italian modernism.
