Striking Italian Art Deco chest of drawers, dating from the 1930s–40s, with a generously proportioned and gently bowed form. The cabinet is veneered throughout in richly figured walnut burl, with the dramatic grain carefully arranged across the drawer fronts and side panels.

The chest comprises four drawers, each retaining its original contrasting tubular handles, with metal mounts and warm-toned cylindrical grips. The central drawers are framed within a raised rectangular surround and retain their original escutcheons and locks.

The rounded corners and stepped detailing are characteristic of the streamlined Italian Art Deco aesthetic, while the elevated base, with its broad feet and subtly shaped supports, gives the substantial piece a lighter appearance. The combination of highly figured timber, restrained geometry and original fittings makes this an particularly handsome example of Italian furniture from the period.
