Set of Six Sculptural Danish Modern Brutalist Pine Dining Chairs

A set of six Danish pine dining chairs designed by Niels Kofoed for Glostrup Møbelfabrik, combining practical construction with the sculptural simplicity characteristic of Scandinavian furniture.

Each chair is crafted from solid pine, with the natural knots and flowing grain of the timber giving the set a warm, organic character. The chairs feature distinctive rounded backrests formed from wide boards, gently shaped and pierced with a curved cut-out that softens the silhouette while providing comfortable support.

The upholstered seats sit within a simple, well-balanced frame of straight legs joined by stretchers, ensuring stability while maintaining the clean lines typical of Danish design. The original upholstery is worn and would benefit from being changed. We can provide a reupholstery service.

Dating from the late 20th Century, the chairs reflect the enduring appeal of Scandinavian craftsmanship, where honest materials and thoughtful proportions create furniture that is both practical and visually appealing. Their sculptural backs and natural timber finish make them well suited to a dining room or kitchen, bringing a relaxed Nordic character to the space.
