A Swedish flatweave kilim rug designed by Judith Johansson (1916–1993), titled Norrviken, circa 1950.
Woven in wool with a restrained palette of tonal grey, cream and muted blue, the composition features a stylised geometric border framing a softly mottled central field. The rhythmic stepped motifs and subtle colour gradations reflect Johansson’s refined interpretation of traditional Scandinavian textile design, balancing folk influences with a distinctly modernist sensibility.
Signed ‘JJ’ to the lower left corner. A quietly sophisticated example of mid-century Swedish weaving.
